五铢钱是中国古铜币名。钱上有“五铢”二篆字，故名。汉武帝于元鼎四年(前113年)下令禁止郡国铸钱，把各地私铸的钱币运到京师销毁，将铸币大权收归中央。中央政府成立专门的铸币机构，即由水衡都尉的属官(钟官、辨铜、技巧三官)负责铸钱。钟官负责铸造，辨铜负责审查铜的质量成色，技巧负责刻范。面文“五铢”二字的钱最初铸于汉武帝元狩五年(公元前118年)，重如其文，被称为五铢钱。

钱币外圆内方，圆为天方为地象征乾坤，乾坤之间篆书五珠二字，极其精美，反面光背，整体呈现黑漆古包浆，开门到代品相完美，是不可多得的馆藏级钱币。
黑漆古：古铜长期存放在大气中锈蚀机理分析紫铜、青铜、黄铜在大气中都很稳定，一般小于0.00015毫米/年，在铜表面会生成一层极稳定的保护薄膜，主要是碱式硫酸铜呈橄榄绿色，还会产生氧化铜（CuO）中黑色，硫化亚铜黑色，及氧化亚锡（SnO)棕黑色。年代越久则锈层加厚颜色也变深，俗称为“黑漆古”，若长期在手中把玩则会使表面光亮如镜俗称“传世古”。但在这类古铜中也产生电化学腐蚀，故是“哑声‘。若古铜长期在干燥的环境中（大气中或土中）也会产生氧化铜和氧化亚金星呈深黑色，俗称“黑漆古”
这枚五铢钱，字迹清晰轮廓分明，包浆自然，底光柔和，所谓包浆是自然形成的氧化层，也有认为手盘包浆，两者不同，但同时都有保护钱币的功能，有如给钱币镀上一层保护膜，使钱币不再氧化，便于收藏传世，如果觉得钱币脏，可以用清水洗，再用棉布擦干，不要破坏包浆，破坏了包浆就相当于破坏了保护层，更重要的是包浆是鉴定新老钱币最简单有效的方法。细看这三枚钱币品相完美，没有磕缺，损毁，变形等是不可多的收藏级铜币，品相十分完美是不可多得的馆藏级钱币。
咸丰重宝是一种铜钱，此种铜钱币十分精美，字迹清晰深俊，铜材优良，呈浅红或黄色，钱文精美，没一丝一毫拖泥带水，比同版流通的钱稍大些、厚重些。
当五十及以下计值称为“咸丰重宝”，高于当五十计值称为“咸丰元宝”，以区别于小平钱“咸丰通宝”。咸丰重宝当十钱虽然是咸丰大钱中计值较低的品种，但是由于铸造时间早，流通区域广，所以也是自古以来古泉爱好者最关心并致力于收藏和欣赏的计值钱币。在诸多咸丰大钱之中，应当推举咸丰重宝当十钱币为最。铸期最长、数量最大、版式最多、流通最广，无一不在咸丰大钱中占据首位。自咸丰三年起，宝泉、源、直、蓟、济、德、陕、巩、福、苏、河、武、宝昌、川、云、浙、桂、黔、（宝安）迪、伊、阿克苏、喀什、叶儿羌、库车等钱局均先后铸造咸丰当十大钱，并投入市场与小平钱同时流通。除了宝安钱局仅见部颁样钱外，其它各个钱局均有大量不同版别，不同形式，甚至不同材质，不同大小的当十计值重宝。

此藏品为咸丰重宝一百计重五两。一品宝福局咸丰重宝背内计重钱。其当值一百，内铸刻"计重五两"。此钱遗存较少，属于相对更为珍贵的宝福局纪重大钱。边圆廓正，坦平地章，穿缘廓干净。优良铸工，更显字廓深竣，精整有加。品赏其钱文，可见宝福钱之特有山谷体端美亮眼，十分耐赏。背内铸“计重五两”四个小字，亦是清晰有加。尤可感其铸体踏实厚重。一句话，其乃宝福美制之品，极具收藏价值。

母钱是古时翻铸大量钱币时，中央和地方财政所制作的标准样板钱。母钱作为样板的用途，可分为三种，即钱样、雕母钱和铸母钱。
钱样是根据钱币的设计，用锡、象牙或红木等材料精心雕制的钱币实物样板，它的用途是呈送朝廷，供皇帝审定。从严格意义上讲，钱样还不能算作钱币，因为它只作为送审报批的实物图样，不能流通。
相关史料记载，清代咸丰年间（1851-1861年），当时正值太平天国农民起义运动，这一运动发展迅速，天平天国政府迅速在江苏南京建都，所以当时清政府赖以铸钱的滇铜就因为道路的阻断而无法运进北京。镇压起义急需大量的军饷开销，但是由于道路阻断，铸钱的原材料却是十分紧缺，这给清政府造成了严重的财政困难，最终迫使清政府自咸丰三年开始发行纸币和改铸大钱来弥补财政亏空。咸丰元宝当千钱币就是在这样的大背景下产生的。
此枚咸丰重宝当千钱币，咸丰重宝是清代文宗咸丰年间铸。此枚咸丰重宝当千铜元，是圆形方孔铜质钱币，其形状外发天，内地法，取义精宏，为难得一见的珍品古钱。正面铸有楷书“咸丰重宝”四字，从上而下而右而左直读，钱缘回形纹，内圈阴刻八宝纹。背面上下写有汉文“当千”二字标明币值，左右用满文写宝泉局的名称。此币钱文，书意端庄隽美，笔划力道十足，笔锋鲜明犀利，“当千”二字形相对瘦长，笔划壮实规矩，如挺立青松，笔直带感。整体保存完好，铸造精美，钱体厚重，币面包浆浑厚，钱币十分精美。
钱币收藏通常是面值越大价值越高，在古代制钱防伪技术并不高，虽有朝廷法律明文规定，不允许私铸，当是只要有大面值的钱币，就会产生巨大的利益，在利益面前会出现大量私铸钱币，很容易造成通货膨胀，在古代历来是钱不如铜贵的时候就熔毁去制作铜器贩卖，钱贵铜贱的时候，就会出现大量的私铸币，所以当千是不敢随便发行的，要发行也是权宜之计，短期使用，一旦发行民间试铸马上会造成严重的通货膨胀，想要找到一个平衡点石非常难得。这枚当千就是一枚母币，可以看见字体以及中间的内方四方圆，凸出非常的高，与钱币一百的铜币有着明显的区别，这是母币独有的特征，钱币整体有着黑漆古包浆的保护。流传至今品相依旧十分完美，俗话说旧器如新就是宝，这枚钱币可以说是镇馆级别非常的罕见。
